    Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Gwydir River

    MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG GWYDIR RIVER AT GRAVESEND ROAD BRIDGE
     Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed in the Gwydir catchment during Saturday. Rainfall has eased since early Sunday morning.
     River level rises are occurring along the Horton River and Gwydir River. Minor flooding is possible at Gravesend Road Bridge Sunday morning. 
     A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is current for parts of Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Hunter, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts.
    
    Gwydir River downstream of Copeton Dam:
    Minor flooding possible along Gwydir River downstream of Copeton Dam. 
    The Gwydir River at Gravesend Rd Bdg is currently at 5.11 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
    The Gwydir River at Gravesend Rd Bdg may reach around the minor flood level (6.10 m) Sunday morning. Further rises are possible. 
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
     Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
     Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
     Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
