    Minor Flood Warning For The Gwydir River

    MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT YARRAMAN
     RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GRAVESEND AND PALLAMALLAWA
     Minor flooding continues along the Gwydir River at Yarraman, where the river peaked on Monday morning with moderate flooding.
     The Gwydir River at Gravesend and Pallamallawa has fallen below the minor flood level on Tuesday morning. However, renewed minor flooding is possible at these locations from early Wednesday morning, with forecast rain.
     Recorded and forecast rainfall for the remainder of Tuesday and Wednesday may cause renewed river rises and flooding in the Gwydir River catchment. The situation is being closely monitored.
    
    Gwydir River downstream of Copeton Dam:
    Minor flooding is occurring along the Gwydir River at Yarraman.
    The Gwydir River at Gravesend Road Bridge was at 5.54 metres around 05:30 pm Tuesday and falling. Renewed rises to the minor flood level are possible Wednesday morning with forecast rainfall.
    
    The Gwydir River at Pallamallawa was at 5.23 metres around 05:30 pm Tuesday and falling. Renewed rises to the minor flood level are possible Wednesday morning with forecast rainfall.
    
    The Gwydir River at Yarraman Bridge was at 6.18 metres around 05:30 pm Tuesday and falling, with minor flooding. Renewed rises are possible Wednesday morning with forecast rainfall.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:

     * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
     * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
     * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
     * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
