    Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Hunter River

    MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT SCONE, ABERDEEN, AND MUSWELLBROOK SUNDAY MORNING
     Moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded over the Hunter catchment since Friday. Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday night and throughout Sunday. River level rises are occurring across the catchment, and minor flooding is possible at Scone, Aberdeen, and Muswellbrook during Sunday morning. 
     A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is current for the Mid North Coast, Hunter and parts of Northern Rivers, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts
    
    Upper Hunter:
    Minor flooding is possible along the upper Hunter River
    The Kingdon Ponds at Scone is currently at 2.45 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
    The Kingdon Ponds at Scone may reach the minor flood level (3.20 m) early Sunday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. 
    
    The Hunter River at Aberdeen is currently at 5.21 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
    The Hunter River at Aberdeen may reach the minor flood level (7.20 m) Sunday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. 
    
    The Hunter River at Muswellbrook is currently at 4.00 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
    The Hunter River at Muswellbrook may reach the minor flood level (7.20 m) Sunday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. 
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
     Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
     Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
     Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
