     Coastal Hazard Warning 
     for DAMAGING SURF
     
     for parts of Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast and Mid North Coast Forecast Districts.
     
     Issued at 4:21 am Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
     
     
     Damaging surf conditions to develop from this evening.
     
     Weather Situation
    A vigorous coastal low pressure system is forecast to deepen off the NSW coast today, with gale to storm force south to southwesterly winds expected to generate large and powerful surf conditions from this evening. The low is forecast to approach the central coast initially today before turning and moving further east into the Tasman Sea during Wednesday, with damaging surf conditions possibly continuing into Thursday.
    DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
    Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra and South Coast
    DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure is likely between Seal Rocks and Batemans Bay from this evening. These conditions may persist into Thursday morning.
     Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.
     A separate Severe Weather Warning is also current for DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS AND HEAVY RAINFALL. Refer http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/
     Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Terrigal, Sydney, Wollongong and Batemans Bay
    
     
     The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
     * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
     * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
     
     The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Tuesday.
     Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
