    Minor Flood Warning For The Avon River

    MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BALLADONG STREET YORK
     Heavy rainfall associated with a strong cold front has resulted in river rises and areas of flooding in the Avon River catchment. Minor flooding is occurring along the Avon River at Balladong Street York.
     Rainfall totals of around 20-30 mm have been recorded since 9:00 am Monday in the Avon River catchment.
     No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder Wednesday. Another strong cold front is expected to move over the catchment during Thursday into Friday with 48 hour rainfall totals of 15-30 mm and isolated totals up to 50mm possible.
     Catchment conditions are wet from recent rainfall. Forecast rainfall may lead to renewed flooding with sharp increases in river levels possible.
     Heavy rainfall and areas of flooding may adversely affect road conditions in the Avon River catchment.
    
    Avon River to Beverley:
    Minor flooding has eased along the Avon River to Beverley. Renewed river rises are possible based on forecast rainfall in the next few days.
    The Avon River at Beverley Bridge peaked at 1.55 metres around 01:15 am Wednesday 28 July and is currently at 1.44 metres and falling.
    The Avon River at Beverley Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (1.50 m) during Wednesday.
    
    Avon River from Beverley to Northam:
    Minor flooding is occurring along the Avon River from Beverley to Northam.
    The Avon River at Balladong Street York is currently at 2.56 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
    The Avon River at Balladong Street York is likely to fall below the minor flood level (2.50 m) overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.}
