    Major Flood Warning For Tuggerah Lake And Final Flood Warning For The Wyong River

    MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT LONG JETTY, MAY REACH AROUND MAJOR FLOOD LEVEL OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
     Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the Wyong River and Tuggerah Lake catchment since Sunday, which has resulted in lake level rises and minor flooding at Long Jetty. Further rainfall overnight Thursday into Friday has caused additional river and lake level rises, with moderate flooding now occurring at Long Jetty which may reach around the major flood level overnight Friday into Saturday.
     River levels along the Wyong River are expected to have peaked just below the minor flood level around midday Friday and are now easing.
     Forecast rainfall totals for the remainder of Friday and into Saturday are not expected to significantly affect river and lake levels at this stage.
     The situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
    
    Wyong River:
    No further flooding is expected along the Wyong River.
    No observations are available at Wyong Bridge Downstream. However, based on upstream river levels, the river level is expected to have peaked just below the minor flood level around midday Friday, and is now expected to be falling below the minor flood level.
    The Wyong River at Wyong Bridge Downstream is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.70 m).
    
    Tuggerah Lake:
    Major flooding may occur at Tuggerah Lake.
    Tuggerah Lake at Long Jetty is currently at 1.31 metres and rising slowly, above the moderate flood level (1.30 m).
    The Tuggerah Lake at Long Jetty may reach near the major flood level (1.60 metres) overnight Friday into Saturday.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
     * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
     * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
     * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
     * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
