Those in southern parts of South Australia will be able to testify to just how windy it has been recently, with vigorous fronts crossing the state bringing some gale force winds.

Some places recorded their strongest gusts in several years yesterday, with plenty of gusts exceeding 90km/h, and some well over 100km/h.

Taking the top position for strongest gust is Neptune Island, at 135km/h, the strongest there in five years. Whilst nowhere near as strong, winds gusting 92.6km/h at Padthaway was their fastest in nearly 11 years.

Other notable wind gusts that were the strongest in at least 2 years include:

Cape Borda (107km/h) - Strongest in 5 years

Wudina (104km/h) - Strongest in 4.5 years

Cummins (98km/h) - Strongest in nearly 5 years

Parndana (96km/h) - Strongest in 2 years

Adelaide Airport (95km/h) - Strongest in nearly 3 years

Cape Jaffa (95km/h) - Strongest in 2 years

Yunta (92.6km/h) - Strongest in nearly 4 years

Winds are easing significantly today, albeit still gusty, will bring a slight reprieve, along with even lighter winds tomorrow. However, the next frontal system isn’t far away, with gusts exceeding 90km/h possible over southern parts of the state again from late on Tuesday.
