Canberra playing rainfall catch-up

Kim Westcott, 27 November 2017

With the record books nearly ready to close on another season, springtime in Canberra started and finished very differently.

The rain on Sunday evening and throughout Monday has certainly helped Canberra to near the November average, with nearly 62mm collected so far this month, just a few millimetres shy of the November average.

Nearby, Tuggeranong has gained more than 90mm since Saturday evening, more than the monthly average of 75mm in under two days.

It was a similar story in October, falling just short of the monthly average by three millimetres. However, the season didn't start this way, with September only recording 26% of their average.

Looking ahead, showers and storms are a risk again on Tuesday, with a possible showers mid-week, with the beginning of December looking to have a soggy start.
