Weather Situation A trough near the base of the Top End will move slowly northwards and reach the west coast early next week, causing showers and storms to increase across the Top End as well as an easing the heat wave conditions over the Arnhem and Carpentaria Districts. A ridge building along the Queensland coast will push another trough over Queensland into central and southern parts of the Northern Territory, which will also lead to an increase in shower and storm activity. Forecast for the rest of Saturday 23 February A slight to medium chance of showers and gusty thunderstorms north of Katherine. These thunderstorms may be severe with damaging wind gusts.
