Severe storms in Vic, NSW tonight
Severe thunderstorms are affecting parts of northern Victoria and southern NSW this evening.
A stream of moisture-laden air from the tropics is interacting with a large pool of cold air passing over southern Australia, triggering tonight's violent storms.
At 5pm AEST, severe thunderstorm warnings were in place for parts of the Lower Western and Riverina Districts in NSW. In Victoria, a severe storm warning was in effect for parts of the North East, Northern Country, North Central and West and South Gippsland Districts.
A severe weather warning is also in place for northeast Victoria, where some areas could receive 100 to 150mm of rain between 8pm on Thursday and 5am on Friday. Rain of this intensity is likely to cause flash flooding.
Be sure to keep up to date with the latest warnings tonight if you live in NSW or Victoria.
