Weather Situation A trough extends across central parts of the Territory, bringing isolated showers and thunderstorms in the warm to hot, humid westerly flow over the northern parts of the Territory. A ridge of high pressure over southern Australia is directing slightly cooler southeast winds into the southern districts. with areas of raised dust. Low to severe intensity heatwave conditions are expected to continue across central districts this week. Over the next couple of days, a monsoon trough will develop over the Gulf of Carpentaria as a westerly surge extends through the Arafura Sea. A tropical low is likely to form within the monsoon trough on Thursday or Friday.
