Weather Situation The monsoon trough has become active along the Arafura Sea with a strengthening tropical low located north of Nhulunbuy. The low is expected to strengthen further and develop into a tropical cyclone sometime during Friday. Heavy rain and windy conditions are likely to develop about the northeast coast tomorrow and Saturday. A high in the Tasman Sea is directing a drier southeast winds across much of the southern and central districts. Forecast for the rest of Thursday 22 March A slight to medium chance of showers and storms north of Elliott and extending along the eastern border, increasing to a high to very high chance over northern and eastern Top End.
