Dry end to wet summer in Melbourne
Melbourne has just had its driest February in 27 years at the end of its wettest summer since 2011.
The city only managed to register 1.6mm of rain in the gauge during February as of 9am today. With no further rain expected to fall before 9am on Wednesday, the month is on track to be Melbourne's driest February since 1991, when 0.6mm was the total.
Melbourne's driest February on record was 0.5mm in 1965.
While the final month was notably dry, the season will come end with a total of 195mm.
This is about 40mm above Melbourne's long-term summer average and makes it the city's wettest summer in seven years.
